What is a VIN VIN stands for Vehicle Identification Number and, since 1981, is expressed as a 17-character serial number. Once you have the keycode, order 2 keys with RFID chips from e-bay (like $6 each) and get those keys cut at any place that cuts keys. I have also heard that Ford does not keep VIN keycodes past 10 years (but don't know for sure on that) I have heard some locksmiths can get keycodes also from VIN's, but not positive. The usually require you to be there and have photo ID as well as title and registration for proof of ownership (can't be giving the codes out to just anyone). Call around to several dealers and ask for the service manager specifically. What I would try is get the keycode (some dealers say they can't get it, but it is a service manager level access, not the counter guys that can get it). There are a few online sites that will get your keycode from your VIN and cut you keys for the truck for less than what the dealer will, but you still need the correct scan tool to wipe the PATS and program the new keys (dealers, some really good locksmiths or good auto shops).
